Good thing we didn't go this week, my kids hate the cartoons and ask me to turn them off. I guess I produced rebellious offspring, I never thought I would be so proud!

HERE'S A BOMBSHELL ABOUT THE 144,000 DOCTRINE......
by Mary injust when you think you've heard it all............in my research for my project, i was doing some digging around on the subject of the 144,000 and came across something in the wts's literature that absolutely stunned me and, being the generous soul that i am , wanted to pass it on to you to get your thoughts on this.. .
we all know that the society teaches that the 144,000 mentioned in revelation is speaking of "spiritual israel" and not 'fleshly israel' or even other christians in general right?
there are countless quotes throughout the literature that we are all familiar with that specifically state this, but to drive home a point, here are a few:.

I found this gem, I am using this angle to my spouse out of 'concern' with some of our JW understandings. It started with John 10:16 and our view of the 'other flock'. The inconsistencies with it's reasoning and then this thread on the 144k. This post was written 6 years ago, I looked up the scripture Matt 19:28 on the JW website and found this article written sometime within a year of this post I believe? I would say they read here and were covering their butt? It's this article :
W10 3/15 pg 24-28.
Sorry I can't get it to copy and paste on here.

I'm glad my children don't have to grow up being afraid of cupcakes
by Ilovebirthdays inyesterday, i brought a batch of cupcakes to my son's school.
in passing them out, i started to give one to one of the children, who was a jw.
he immediately started freaking out and screaming "no thank you" over and over.

@endofmysteries or anyone else, how did the society crack down hard on fun? I remember as a youth we had so much going on socially, we still had fun with our congregation. Now, there is nothing, it's dead. My relatives tell my husband (not born in) its due to everyone being too busy-pressures of life. But if I can show him old literature or something with the pressure or position that JWs were having 'too much fun' it would definitely push him a little. He hates the 'anti-social' unloving stance among those in our own faith let alone outside. -

Becoming officially inactive
by All for show ini don't want to turn in my token time anymore.
it's only a few hours counting what we do with the kids.
i don't want it counted for their skewed statistics- or to just for the sake of doing it.

Thanks for the replies. The consensus seems to be to wait. I want to play my cards well, if cornered for time, I would give in to their demands because otherwise I would open my mouth and tell them service was crap along with everything else!
We miss quite a few meeting with the nature of our careers and family life. So, the kids don't hear too much on a regular basis. But still, my desire is one day to be totally out.

I don't want to turn in my token time anymore. It's only a few hours counting what we do with the kids. I don't want it counted for their skewed statistics- or to just for the sake of doing it. The husband isn't used in any capacity, so what will happen, A shepherding call before the CO visit? If they even care?
We plan on moving in a year, should I just keep turning in time until we move and my card is moved? Or does it not matter. We live all around family and have some in our hall, they aren't a servant, but their tight in the social circles. They wouldn't shun me because of it so that isn't a concern.

At the bottom of the first article in the grey box...they use a term I've only heard used by self important JWs. " Need Greaters" ...great an official-new acceptable title of honor. -

Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower
by Jeremy C ini have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

Wow, what a great OP. I am glad it found it's way up top.
i have asked this question for several years, to various JWs, they all look at me like I am crazy. I was always envious of school friends who loved their youth group, I hated meeting and felt like something was wrong with me.
The only answer I get is " We are organized to preach. Can you imagine all the drama and resources that would take?" It's true, can you imagine, the cult would suck the life out of any half way enjoyable youth program.

If you're bothered by god murdering innocent children, you must have a "critical heart"
by OneEyedJoe inthis week's book study contains this gem:.
the way in which the bible is written serves to test what is in our heart.
hebrews 4:12 says: the word [or, message] of god is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit .

For your sake.... I hope you get to stay home.
i just got a call that our hall is going to have the kids sing the song on stage " hoping you guys can make it so the kids can take part" -- I told my husband-- no way. And my now 2.5 months of no attendance continues.

Do current JWs like to have Bible discussions?
by Magnum inon another thread rufus t. firefly made this interesting comment:.
my wife is a "zealous" regular pioneer who never talks about the bible or "the truth" and who has no interest in conducting a bible study with anyone.
this is how one remains a jw.. i decided to start a new thread to discuss this, since i didn't want to veer completely off the topic of the original thread.. i can relate to what rufus said - not concerning my wife, but other close jw family members.

The JWs in the hall only talk about each other or spiritual activities. Not the bible. They can only quote 'the society says' and all about the wonders of Caleb and Sophia.
My family, older relatives, only talks about how the 'truth' is different when they were young and complain and continue agitation at the management mainly at the local level, feeling the GB is different. They think the problems are local, elders running from their own rules, not seeing the problem starts at the top. They also believe the generation change needs fixing because it's wrong. But it's the truth. Ugh

This makes me think of our dinner last night with a close elder friend. He can't stand the BOE... Said he wants to step down, he's overworked and doesn't know his kids anymore.he said their guilting him that most elders who step down fall out of the truth. I had to bite my tongue knowing about all the ex elders on here. Feel bad he is in deep with BS but not aware of TTATT. Not my job to wake him up though, dangerous territory there.
